Making the move from your parents’ home into your own independent dwelling is an exciting step for any young adult and one that can also be a little overwhelming. Knowing what items you really need to spend the money on to make your home comfortable and what items you can leave until later on can be tricky.
When you are moving out, many people have not mastered cordon bleu cooking skills. If this is the case for you, then you would be wise to invest in a couple of affordable appliances that can make your life a lot easier in the kitchen and result in far fewer burned pots. Rice cookers and slow cookers are life savers for busy people and those that have just left home and mom’s cooking behind.
Buying a zojirushi rice cooker is a great choice as these cookers are very easy to operate and are simple to clean as well. They give you perfect rice each time you make it and you can walk away and leave them to do their job rather than needing to stay and stir the rice constantly.
Other appliances for the kitchen that are very useful to have are hand mixers, blenders and microwaves. You will also need lots of other items such as crockery, cutlery, pots, pans and other cooking utensils.
Getting a dining room furniture set is also a very good idea as these provide a clean and comfortable place to eat your meals every day as well as being useful for other things like acting as a temporary desk if necessary. Buying a four seat dining table is probably enough for your needs at first. Other items that you will need are a bed and mattress, a sofa and probably a TV. You can buy the other items when you have more money saved up.
A small washing machine is also a great idea as it can be incredibly inconvenient to have to take your washing to the laundry all the time. It is even less convenient to have to hand wash your clothes at home. A dryer can also be useful, but this is not a must have item as they use a lot of electricity and can be expensive to operate.
When you choose to move out of home and into your own apartment or house, the process can be an expensive one. By prioritizing the items that you buy, then you can minimize the initial expenses that you incur.
